My fantasy team - up for critique!

Because I'm kind of a bumbling idiot sometimes, I accidentally had my fantasy league draft last night - but hey, it's OK. I think everyone pre-ranked since I nagged them about it, but man did I wind up with a great roster! Every guy on the roster I had preranked, except for one:

Sergei Kostitsyn
(Mon - LW)
Sidney Crosby
(Pit - C)
Jason Pominville
(Buf - RW)
Alexander Frolov
(LA - LW)
Marc Savard
(Bos - C)
Ales Hemsky
(Edm - RW)
Mike Green
(Was - D)
Brian Campbell
(Chi - D)
John-Michael Liles
(Col - D)
Brent Burns
(Min - D)
Ryan Miller
(Buf - G)
Kari Lehtonen
(Atl - G)
Martin Biron
(Phi - G)

UTILITY PLAYERS
Derek Roy
(Buf - C)
Joffrey Lupul
(Phi - RW)
Jordan Staal
(Pit - C/LW)
Tobias Enstrom
(Atl - D)

Clearly I'm a follower of the Eastern Conference. Is Frolov good? He wasn't in my rankings. But none of the other left wings looked that great in comparison.

I think this might be the first year I do NOT finish in the basement!

Top 100 in Fantasy

Listen, don't be like me. Don't be the jerkface that ignores the fantasy rankings and just picks the guys that would fill the roster of my NHL team, were I to have one. Which is definitely a future possibility. But that is a story for anotehr day. Anyhoo, Chris Nichols over at sportsnet.ca ranked the top 100 guys for fantasy. So without further ado*:

1. Alexander Ovechkin, Washington: Goal scoring wizard has earned the top slot.
2. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh: Art Ross favourite; should be downright dominant.
3. Martin Brodeur, New Jersey: Mr. Consistency always gets it done.
4. Dany Heatley, Ottawa: Hungry to resume his 50 goal ways with outstanding peripherals.
5. Vincent Lecavalier, Tampa Bay: New captain excellent all-around; repaired shoulder ok.
6. Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh: Points, PIM and he's 22. Career potential is off the charts.
7. Henrik Zetterberg, Detroit: No Datsyuk? No worries. Hank is bank.
8. Jarome Iginla, Calgary: Average of 96 points in each of the past two years; PIM bonus
9. Evgeni Nabokov, San Jose: Rebooted San Jose team; same rock in net.
10. Joe Thornton, San Jose: Absolutely ridiculous point totals since move to SJ.
...
18. Marian Hossa, Detroit: Look for statistical increases across the board for this Czech sniper.
19. Ilya Kovalchuk, Atlanta: One of the best pure snipers in the game.

Edited AGAIN: Blogger Fantasy League

I signed up for a league. Because that patience thing? Yeah, never heard of it.

http://http://hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com/hockey <-- oops. My bad. Fixed now!

League ID: 25888
PW: lehtonen <-- fixed that, too!

PLEASE NOTE! This is a points league. It is not head-to-head and it is not rotisserie. Screw that crap. I love points leagues!

I hope to be kicking your ass in fantasy shortly!

Fantasy.... hates me

I'm not too much of a football girl. I mean I grew up watching it with my daddy, and I understand the game perfectly. It's just, you know, slow. Stand around stand around stand around stand around THROWTHEBALLRUN stand around stand around stand around. Zzzzzz. But this year I am a little excited to see football back! And to start the season with a Thursday nighter with the Skins, no less (my team, obviously). So in all my excitement, I joined 2 fantasy teams - one where you just pick the winners, I guess that's a pick 'em league? And the other ... WELL I WOULD KNOW WHAT IT WAS IF YAHOO WOULD ASSIGN ME TO A LEAGUE AND I COULD, YOU KNOW, DRAFT PLAYERS. The FUCK, Yahoo!? I mean I am watching the NFL on my TV! It is live! And not preseason! Where are my players! Where is my team! What the shit! Do you have a league I can join? Yahoo hates me.

And to add bad to worse, I was listening to The Junkies this morning and they were saying how Jason Campbell has a better QB rating than Eli, and EVEN THOUGH Campbell only had half as many completions despite the better completion record, I STILL decided to pick the Skins to win this one. Like changed my choice at 11 this morning. This is why I am perpetually in the basement in fantasy. I thought Pick 'Em would be perfect for me but noooo. Already fucking it up.

Who's doing fantasy hockey this year? We should get a league together. C'mon, you need someone to be last in your league, and I am that person!

[fantasy] Q&A:Lehtonen owners antsy

From Chris Nichols' fantasy blog on Sportsnet.ca.

If you've got Kari Lehtonen on your team, you've felt the pain early on this season. But is he still a gem in keeper leagues?

We take a look in this edition of the Q&A.

KARI CRASHING?
Just wondering
“Lehtonen has looked really shaky in his starts so far -- is he going to get it together or did Hartley really mess him up in the playoffs? I've got him in a keeper league and I could trade for DiPietro to shore things up for the future. I know you've been high on Kari -- will he still be the mega-stud you projected (and is a cult of of Kari coming?) or should I start to look elsewhere?”

Chris
Actually, I think Lehtonen had two fairly strong games to open the season and then last night wasn’t great for him or anyone else on the team. Long term and this year I’d still rather have Lehtonen over DiPietro. The Thrashers have been particularly frustrating to watch as a Lehtonen owner, because consistency is not in their vocabulary. I’ve still got faith in Kari though and I think the team is getting better each year, albeit a little more slowly than I’d like to see as a Lehtonen keeper owner myself.

[...] Patience though…
